University of Extrication: School Bus Emergencies
Event Date: October 19,2006 02:00 PM EDT
Presenter: Ron Moore
Every school day, more than 2 million students will board a school bus before the day is over and while they are the safest means of mass transportation for the children, they present several special challenges to firefighters during an accident. Common incidents with school buses are major factors simply because of the possible occupants: while the smaller buses carry eight students, a large bus can carry 84 or more children. Besides the sheer potential for victims, firefighters will encounter different construction features that will even challenge the well trained teams. This webcast will address the NFPA 1670 standards for operations and rescue technician training and feature an overview of school bus construction and common challenges you will encounter."
